Standing at the Shore~

10 days ago I launched a little experiment. Now just over 1 hour remains on the clock for your chance to own a museum quality print of one of my images at a super bargain price! Check it out if you like > .

I set up the auction as a birthday gift to myself in a bid to raise travel funds for a family trip to the USA . My little brother's getting married ūüôā The children are growing up so fast … in the 17 years I've lived here I've made the trip back home 3 times. Although I'm very blessed with a beautiful life my day jobs have only ever afforded the basics. It's a classic tale of save up and break the piggy bank for that unexpected event rather than travel. Now that my children are a bit older I'm working on changing that. But, be warned: if you've ever considered moving here > Sydney gobbles pay checks for rent! ūüėõ¬†

Anyway, ¬†thank you for tolerating the "plug" it's all new to me … hopefully it only pissed of the one person who bothered to say as much.

Many Blessings~

Alternate Realities ~

After much deliberation …
my submission for this year's +Plus One Collection. ¬†I thought this image suited the ‚ÄúOur World‚ÄĚ theme, choosing a subcategory from ¬† ‚ÄúOur Planet‚ÄĚ, ‚ÄúOur People‚ÄĚ and ‚ÄúOur Creations‚ÄĚ ¬†puzzled me for a few moments. Haha, ¬†this tiny world contains all three!

The new edition will be absolutely chock full of AWESOME! If this photograph makes the book  I will consider it a great honour to be among such talent. Many thanks to +Ivan Makarov & the team of supporters who work so hard putting book together each year.

The Samburu Project (this year's charity), provides access to safe, clean drinking water to Kenyan communities. During my youth I had the daily chore of hauling fresh water from a nearby stream to our remote cabin … bloody hard yakka! A source of reliable clean water is such a simple yet profound gift.

Tracks Official Trailer #1 (2013) РMia Wasikowska, Adam Driver Movie HD

I've just seen Aussie film "Tracks" based on the true story of Robyn Davidson's solo trek across the Australian desert to the Indian Ocean during the 1970's. Stunning cinematography, great story & authentic performances. If you like an actioned packed movie this may not float your boat.  But if picturesque scenery,  a human story & relaxed pace adventure appeals,  this film is well worth the price of admission.

Below is one of the original images by +Rick Smolan that appeared in National Geographic Magazine circa 1977.

Life feels safer BEHIND the lens!

As much as I like to hide behind my camera … in recent weeks I've had to re-acquaint myself with the flip side & step out of the comfort zone.

What's that saying?

"…grant me the serenity¬†
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference."

Yep, that's the one!

Cheers to knowing the difference. Have a wonderful weekend +kins ūüôā

North Narrabeen :: New South Whales :: Australia

Headed up the Northern Beaches yesterday afternoon to re-charge & spend the evening catching up with extended family. Before filling our bellies the children & I ran down to the shore to fuel our souls.

The sea invites, simply. By being~

The texture & squeak of dry sand mingled with the smell of humidly salty air as we walked down the dune seeking comfort in the buoyantly warm Southern sea. The expression of content solitude on my son's face as his feet sank deeper, and deeper into the shoreline with the pull of every receding wave. The joy of my daughter's laughter (barely audible above the crashing tide) as we ran, hand in hand through the whitewash of breakers.  For an hour time suspended itself and became still in the swell of constant motion. The ocean, in all it's complex simplicity, reminding us; humans, that simply being, is enough~  ©Gretchen Chappelle [CC BY-NC-ND]

Wishing you a wonderful week!

We Are All Equal Under The Sun~ ABSOLUT launch :: Sydney, Australia

I met Baz Luhrmann today … fun! ¬† ¬†

He and his wife, Catherine Martin, teamed up with Absolut to create the inaugural "limited edition bottle" celebrating Australia. ‚ÄúAbsolut Oz is a distillation of the unifying truth that we are all equal under the sun.‚ÄĚ

My husband,  +Ben Davidson, is the mixologist behind the featured recipes included with each limited edition bottle.  He worked closely with Baz who titled the cocktails as an ode to Australian beaches.

‚ÄúWhile creating the drinks which feature and celebrate Absolut Oz, we reflected on that moment when the sun dips below the horizon and, as we say in the movies, the magic hour is upon us.‚ÄĚ ¬† BAZ

Happy Year of Wood Horse!

So many people I know are going "ALL IN" this year. Everyone seems to be facing their fears, making massive transformations, traveling  & committing to truth in their life's path.

It's certainly set to be a fast paced, energetic and productive year. Definitely a time to be sure footed in decisions & gallop head first into new adventures.  Victories are tangible and the global economy is said to thrive under the influence of horse energy. Oh, and remember to keep the heart open to the sweetness of unexpected romance.

Here's a link for those of you who feel like discovering  more about horse energy & symbolism

Wishing you all the very best!

The View Is Tinting Up!

As a creative artist & entrepreneur

with multiple outlets I spend a great deal of time exploring the online frontier.

While updating my website I began seeking a way to ¬†build a clear picture with broad social scope for people who land on my home page. Things began to “look up” when I discovered TINT¬†. ¬†First off, ¬†I was impressed with the immediate & helpful online chat that popped up. The gentleman was polite & informative. ¬†I also found their you tube channel ¬†to be a great resource with videos such as How to display a Tint onto Word Press¬†¬† & liked the options on offer to customise the look of my tints too. The beautiful thing about this service is that all your social media posts, events and even #tags are gathered in a Pinterest style format without the need to visit multiple sites or learn code. It’s certainly helped me define, clarify & choose my content to cohesively illustrate the big picture without being redundant. What a time saver!

This however brings me to the only drawback with this service – THE PRICE!!! I find it quite steep. Especially as an independent artist. So, here’s hoping I make up in funds what I would have spent in time. Maybe this company ¬†will find empathy for the “little guys” who’d like to use utilise the service ūüėČ
