Postcard :: Sydney :: Australia :: January :: 2o14

A  yellow rose is said to hold the promise of a new beginning.
A delightful symbol of friendship, gratitude & joy. It is a flower you may choose to welcome someone home, show that you care, or say; Remember Me~

I wandered away from the crowd  & found this Golden Blossom growing under the the Sydney Harbour Bridge as I was heading up to Observatory Hill  on last Sunday's photowalk with +Jay Patel & +Varina Patel.   This edit evolved into a postcard. Because  – fun!

The text I found from a US correspondence in 1914 reads >

" Dearest … I wish you the only thing that I think really counts &  that is that you may be perfectly happy in every way. Your Devoted, Goldie"

Seemed a perfect fit 😉

Happy Friday Everyone! I'm on my way to a friend's wedding. Apologies in advance for the post & run.

Wishing you wonderful weekend. ~G

When Camera Nerds Swarm!

+Jay Patel  and +Varina Patel  two globetrotting, professional Landscape and wilderness photographers are in Sydney right now, amongst other things filming a new video tutorial series, and the #Sydney photography community being as passionate as it is, naturally someone organised a big group photo-walk to share the love.

And big props to +Mykal Hall who organised the Photo walk and got Jay & Varina involved 🙂

This Is What Happens When You Blow Soap Bubbles at -9°C (15,8°F)
When the weather forecast announced about the unexpected cold from -9°C to -12°C last week, Washington-based photographer Angela Kelly decided to take an advantage of it in one truly creative way. Together with her 7-year-old son, Kelly combined the home-based remedies – dish soap, karo …

“A photograph is usually looked at – seldom looked into.” – Ansel Adams

“Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art.” – Ansel Adams

“No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions, and to build confidence in the creative spirit.” – Ansel Adams

“Photography, as a powerful medium…offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution.” – Ansel Adams

“There’s nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.” – Ansel Adams

“Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships.” – Ansel Adams

“A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words.” – Ansel Adam

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs.  When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” – Ansel Adams

“I am sure the next step will be the electronic image, and I hope I shall live to see it. I trust that the creative eye will continue to function, whatever technological innovations may develop.” – Ansel Adams
